Fashion film shouldn't be just moving fashion photography.  Nobody cares that a lithe model can lounge on a couch while staring wistfully into a camera and writhing in her angst.

While I find some fashion films puzzlingly beautiful re: Gareth Pugh, most of them are tiresome and contrived.

This is why fashion films should be documentary-style.   Ari Marcopoulos's "No Way Back" for Yves Saint Laurent combines the beauty of fashion with a sense of balanced escape and cynicism that gives just enough intrigue to avoid pretention.
